Safety First Elopement

Dear Parents & Educators

Elopement is a very dangerous topic that needs to be discussed when your child is assigned to a classroom, daycare, stays with a sitter, or anywhere you are not going to be with them. Please, if your child is a "RUNNER," come up with a safety plan for your exit doors, playground, and anywhere our children with autism and other exceptional needs could be at risk! Their lives depend on it. Chasing them often increases the danger the child and adults find themselves in. As an educator and parent of one of these children, please do this! They can get hit by a car, be abducted, drown, or worse. If you need advice or help coming up with a plan, let me know!
